Customized Letter Requests

The University Registrar’s Office at the the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign does not complete forms or generate customized letters verifying information otherwise available on an official academic transcript, enrollment or degree verification, or student statement of account.

An official transcript shows completed and in-progress courses, grade point average (GPA), and academic dismissal. Please note, the GPA is not weighted at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Below is a list of common requests and how to request documentation for each.

Employer Reimbursement Request

If you need an official letter for tuition reimbursement from your employer, please email registration@illinois.edu. Please include in your email your full name, UIN and information the employer is requesting. Commonly requested information from employers include: the semester, the program, the university attended, courses taken, number of credit hours, cost per credit hour and total tuition charges. Please note, we do not verify any payments the student has made to their student account or grade information.

English is the language of instruction

Within higher education, institutions often waive the requirement for documenting the language of instruction from an American institution. For international admissions purposes, higher educational institutions have an understanding that institutions from certain countries only teach in one specified language. With the exception of some foreign language courses, instruction at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus is delivered in English.

Degree requirements

Degree requirements are maintained by the student’s Academic College Office of enrollment. Only the student’s college office can verify when a student is projected to complete their degree requirements, if they have completed their degree requirements before a degree was awarded, or that they will be awarded a degree before the degree is awarded.
