Cancellation of Registration
A student who has placed courses on their record and later decides not to attend the University may cancel registration before the first day of instruction for the semester provided the student has neither attended any classes nor received any related student services. 100% of tuition and fee charges are relieved if cancellation is requested by the semester deadline. The easiest way to cancel registration is via Student Self-Service. Until approximately 2 weeks before the semester starts, students can use Student Self-Service/Registration & Records/Enhanced Registration to drop all their classes. After that time until midnight before semester starts, students must use the Student Self-Service/Registration & Records/Cancel Registration option to request drop of all their courses by the Registrar’s Office.
Deadline to cancel for Fall 2020: Sunday, August 23, 2020 11:59 PM for classes scheduled in a regular semester. For non-standard course offerings, the deadline to cancel is the last day prior to instruction.
Once a student has attended a class or used campus services, the student may not cancel their registration. A withdrawal from the University must be processed.
Withdrawal from the University
To withdraw, a student must request withdrawal from their undergraduate college or academic affairs office or graduate department. Failing grades will be assigned to any student who leaves the University without completing withdrawal. A student, who officially withdraws within the refund period, will receive a pro-rata refund based upon the approved effective date for the withdrawal. Refund deadlines depend on the part of term in which the student is solely enrolled. Withdrawal refund percentages of tuition and some campus fees, and the deadline to obtain the specified refund level, are the following:
|First 8 Weeks
|Second 8 Weeks
|90%||Sept 4, 2020||Aug 28, 2020||Oct 23, 2020||days 1 thru 6||N/A|
|80%||Sept 11, 2020||Sept 4, 2020||Oct 30, 2020||days 7 thru 13||days 1 thru 6|
|70%||Sept 25, 2020||Sept 11, 2020||Nov 6, 2020||days 14 thru 20||N/A|
|60%||Oct 9, 2020||N/A||N/A||N/A||days 7 thru 14|
|50%||Oct 16, 2020||Sept 18, 2020||Nov 13, 2020||days 21 thru 27||N/A|
|40%||Oct 30, 2020||Sept 25, 2020||Nov 20, 2020||days 28 thru 34||days 15 thru 20|
No refund is available for withdrawal after the posted deadline for 40% refund. The non-standard deadlines are based on the number of calendar days, not week days. Assessed tuition, the Service fee, AFMFA, Library/Information Technology fee, General fee, Transportation fee and Student Initiated fees are refunded on a pro-rata basis, less an administrative fee of $50. The Health Insurance and Health Service fees are not refundable.
If you withdraw, you continue to be covered by health insurance and are eligible to receive health services (if you paid these fees) until the first day of instruction for the next term. Before a refund is made to you, the university must make a refund to appropriate financial aid programs providing assistance to you. If you are indebted to the university at the time of withdrawal, the amount owed will be deducted from the amount of any refund available.
If you make no payment, and then withdraw from the university, you are liable for the full amount of tuition and fees originally assessed less applicable refunds.
Special refund policies apply to those who withdraw to enter either active duty in the United States armed forces or other approved national defense service.
