Fall 2016 Academic Calendar

(All dates are tentative until closer to the beginning of the semester.)

UG = Undergraduate; GRAD = Graduate

Part of Term (POT) values indicate the time frame for the course.  The Class Schedule shows what part of term each course is scheduled in to assist with identifying deadlines:

  • 1 = full 16 week semester (approximately 8/22/2016 – 12/7/2016 plus finals)
  • A = first 8 weeks of the semester (approximately 8/22/2016 – 10/14/2016)
  • B = second 8 weeks of the semester (approximately 10/17/2016 – 12/7/2016 plus finals)

March 14

  • Priority registration Time Tickets (earliest registration times) for Fall 2016 available on Student Self-Service

April 4

  • Priority registration begins

April 25

  • Open registration begins for all except non-degree students

August 14

  • Fall tuition and fee charges first appear on student accounts

August 18 – September 9

  • Health Insurance Change/Waiver Period

August 21

  • Deadline to cancel registration (drop all classes) for full reversal of tuition and campus fees

August 22

  • First day of instruction for the Fall semester and POT A courses
  • Deadline for degree-seeking students to register for first classes without being charged $15 late fee penalty

August 23

August 25–September 2

  • Registration of part-time, non-degree students without penalty

August 26

  • Deadline to add a UG POT A course
  • Deadline to add a GRAD POT A course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline for all students to drop POT A (1st 8 week) course for refund if reducing assessment range
  • Deadline to suppress directory information

September 2 – 10th day add/drop deadline

  • Deadline to drop or reduce semester hours and receive refund if reducing assessment range for ALL students
  • Deadline to add an UG semester course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline to add a GRAD semester course via Student Self-Service and without approval
  • Deadline to add a GRAD POT A course via department office

September 5

  • Labor Day (all-campus holiday)

September 16

  • Deadline to drop UG POT A (1st 8 week) course via Student Self-Service without grade of W
  • Deadline to drop GRAD POT A course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in UG POT A course
  • Deadline to file intent to use Campus Grade Replacement option in UG POT A course

September 28

  • Full payment due for Fall 2016 charges unless on a payment plan

September 30

  • Deadline to drop a GRAD POT A course without grade of W
  • Deadline for GRAD students to elect credit/no credit for a POT A course or to change credit/no credit to a regular grade

October 11 (noon)

  • Faculty deadline for reporting midterm grades for freshmen

October 14

  • Deadline to drop UG semester course via Student Self-Service without grade of W
  • Deadline to drop GRAD semester course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline to remove UG incomplete grade from previous semester to prevent change to F grade
  • Deadline to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in UG semester course
  • Deadline to file intent to use Campus Grade Replacement option in UG semester course
  • Deadline for UG to withdraw from Fall semester (drop all courses) without grade of W
  • Deadline for LAW students to drop semester course without grade of W

October 17

  • Priority registration Time Tickets (earliest registration times) for Spring 2017 available on Student Self-Service
  • POT B courses begin (non-traditional courses may begin earlier or later)

October 21

  • Deadline to add UG POT B (2nd 8 week) course
  • Deadline to add GRAD POT B course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline for all students to drop POT B course for refund if reducing assessment range 

October 28

  • Deadline to withdraw from the University and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund

October 31

  • Priority registration for Spring 2017 begins

November 4

  • Deadline to add GRAD POT B course via Department Office

November 11

  • Deadline to drop UG POT B course via Student Self-Service without grade of W
  • Deadline to drop GRAD POT B course via Student Self-Service
  • Deadline to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in UG POT B course
  • Deadline to file intent to use Campus Grade Replacement option in UG POT B course
  • Deadline to drop GRAD semester course without grade of W
  • Deadline to elect credit/no credit or change credit/no credit to regular grade basis in GRAD semester course
  • Last day for GRAD students to withdraw from term without grade of W

  • Reading day (no classes, no final examinations)
  • Last day for GRAD to add/drop POT B course without petitioning Graduate College
  • Last day for GRAD to add/drop semester course without petitioning Graduate College

  • Transcripts on hold for Fall 2016 grades are released
